Danny Post 23rd Place Finish After Gambling at Dover

Irmo, SC — The racetrack at Dover, Deleware is an intersting place, to say the least. They combine a huge gambling casino with a horse track inside the NASCAR Track. The place is spic and span and shiny! The track is one mile long, concrete and very high banked.
Dover was my second effort in the C3i Sports Ford Mustang for Go Green Racing. It was the end of practice before we began to get a handle on the car but we were looking forward to qualifying.
Saturday dawned rainy and cool. Qualifying was washed out and most of us did not think we would even race. But after a great NASCAR track drying effort we were going at it only an hour or so behind schedule. We settled in and just ran our own race while staying out of other peoples wrecks.
On a caution after a rain delay with about 60 laps to go we gambled. The Go Green Mustang was in 20th place and one lap down. More importantly we were in the Lucky Dog position to get that lap back if there was another caution. We thought we had fuel to go to lap 185.
Somtimes the gamble does not pay off. There were no more cautions until the very end of the race and we ran out of gas on lap 183.
After losing a number of laps trying to get fuel we came home a respectable 23rd with a race car in one piece. If the race was re-run tomorrow I would be for making the same decision again but in this game you never know what the result will be.
It is really great to drive a car the caliber Archie St. Hillaire and his Go Green team put on the track and I look forward to driving for them in Charlotte in two week!
On a side note, I was invited to a NASCAR themed family night at the Dover Air Force Base. We ate pizza, signed autographs and had a wonderful time with a great bunch of people that are dedicated to the protection of our Country.
See you at the races!
