Danny Efland Racing
Irmo, South Carolina
February 23rd, 2010
Danny Efland Racing (NASCAR Nationwide’s newest team) made it to Fontana California for the teams first race. Right off the hauler Danny put the car in the high 20's in a field of 49. Later in the practice most cars turned a faster time as they began doing mock-up qualifying runs, a luxury we could not afford as it requires an extra set of $1,800 tires. Even so Danny and the team felt good about the chances of making their first race. Only 43 of the 49 entrants would start.
Saturday dawned nice and sunny. The car rolled through NASCAR tech and on to pit road for qualifying. For a first time tech effort the team was quite pleased, but their success was largely due to Micah Horton who is helping as a temporary crew chief for the 2 west coast races.
Danny put the car in the 31st starting position with what he said was a pretty conservative run.
The day turned short when the car picked up a skip early on. Danny brought the car in but Micah could not find a plug wire loose or anything else so Danny went back out but felt he was just in the way so he called it a day.
Now it is on to Vegas for our 2nd attempt. Danny flew home on Sunday for 3 days of school before returning to play in a Charity Celebrity Poker Game on Thursday.
Practice will be on Friday with the race on Saturday. Danny said he would like to thank John Anderson of Shred 360 and Carl Sherwood of M & W Towing for making this west coast trip possible.
See You at the Races!
